POLICY ON TITHING
WHAT IS TITHING?

tithe (pronounced /ˈtaɪð/; from Old English teogoþa "tenth") is a one-tenth part of something,
Tithing is giving one tenth of our income to the church to help finance the vision and ministry of the church. Also the Bible makes the purpose of tithing very clear — to put God first in our lives. We are to give God the first and best of what we earn. For example, what we do first with our money shows what we value most. Giving the first part of our paycheck to God immediately focuses our attention on him. It also reminds us that all we have belongs to him. A habit of regular tithing can keep God at the top of our priority list and give us a proper perspective on everything else we have.
Notice what the scriptures say about tithing in Malachi 3:8-12 (AMP)
8 Will a man rob or defraud God? Yet you rob and defraud Me. But you say, In what way do we rob or defraud You? [You have withheld your] tithes and offerings.
9 You are cursed with the curse, for you are robbing Me, even this whole nation.
10 Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
11 And I will rebuke the devourer [insects and plagues] for your sakes and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground, neither shall your vine drop its fruit before the time in the field, says the Lord of hosts.
12 And all nations shall call you happy and blessed, for you shall be a land of delight, says the Lord of hosts.
For most people, 10% seems to be a barrier similar to the sound barrier high-speed planes encounter. Once the speed of a plane exceeds the speed of sound, the craft moves on with unprecedented freedom to greater and greater speeds.
So it is in giving.Once the discipline of tithing is established—as an obedient first step in giving—a Christian finds increased ease and joy in additional giving.
THE FIVE SURPRISES OF THOSE WHO TITHE TO THE CHURCH FAITHFULLY
1.They are surprised at how they can do more with 90% than they used to be able to do with 100%.
2.They are surprised at the unexpected blessings that come to their lives. Many get raises on their jobs. Others start their own business.
3.They are surprised at the peace of God and the spiritual growth that takes place in their lives.
4.They are surprised at how the Lord speaks to them about giving even more.

5.They are surprised at how much can be done to reach hurting people around the world just by everyone giving one tenth of their income.
Tithing ten percent of your income to the church and giving offerings is your opportunity to change your financial destiny. Many single parents, senior citizens, and young couples struggle financially. But the moment they begin to tithe, God opens the windows of heaven over their lives and He begins to bless them.
