The U.S. Congress

Well, we are finally just a few days away from Election Day.  Ted Stevens (R) Alaska, (now a convicted felon) is back in Alaska campaigning for re-election to the U.S. Senate.  William Jefferson (D) Louisiana, (the Representative with $90,000 in his freezer) will probably be re-elected to yet another two (2) years in the House of Representatives.

The presidential campaign has been long and intense.  To some extent, it has distracted voters from concentrating on the roll of the U.S. Congress in allowing our current economic crisis to occur.  The lives of most Americans have been adversely affected by eight (8) years of an administration that has allowed and even encouraged financial service practices that have caused a worldwide financial crisis that may impact our lives and the lives of our children for years to come.

During this time period we have had a Congress that provided no oversight of the administration.  The Congress busied themselves with the interests of the corporations and special interest groups that contribute to their re-election campaigns.  Regardless of who wins the presidency, if the voters do not clean out the Congress on November 4th, we will not be able to take the steps that are necessary to get us out of this mess.  Re-elected incumbents will reason that the voters don’t care and therefore don’t count.  The gridlock will continue.

Nationwide property values have crashed.  Thousands of families are losing their homes  Pension funds have evaporated.  Prices for everyday needs (food, gas, etc,) have soared; and jobs continue to disappear.  If the voters don’t vote congressional incumbents out of office, we may see conditions similar to the depression of the 1930s.  We will be a weakened America; and a weakened America will be a vulnerable America as we find it more difficult to defend ourselves against our enemies.

Democrat, Republican or Independent, go to the polls on Tuesday and vote.  While in the voting booth, take the extra minute to assure that you vote against your incumbent congressional representatives that are up for re-election this year.
Good
Bye
