Save Your Love

Number one Christmas 1983

Save Your Love was number one at Christmas 1983; their two million selling single topped the charts for four weeks! It was the record that everyone loved to hate! (Except the two million; perhaps they all bought it for their Mums?     ? ; - )          The song was inspired by Johnny hearing 'Save Your Kisses For Me' on TOTP and was so frustrated (having released 30 plus tracks and three albums with out getting a hit - all were lauded by the companies that released them - mostly majors too!) that he almost threw a chair at the TV. He didn't! Having calmed down, he decided to get his own back on the industry. He went to the music room, and jokingly sang the opening bars of the chorus that would (seven years later), the joke went horribly RIGHT and the other half of the team swung into action, John's wife Sue came up with the rest of the lyrics and the rest is history. Various TV advertisers have used the song; National Westminster Bank (the penguins) being the most memorable perhaps.

Listen out for Daniel O’Donnel and Mary Duff singing their version of the song, on release now on Rosetta Records.

The mysterious girl who appeared in the video is on the next page. The truth is - at last it can be revealed! - Renee (Hilary) was busy with a girl group and chose not to leave them until 'Save Your Love' shot into the top twenty. It is Hilary who appears in the videos and sings on all Renee and Renato tracks. We are working on bringing you a download section where you may purchase the thirty nine songs they recorded at Hollywood Studios produced by Johnny. Stay tuned...
