Orange Crush Is the newest of our Footy models, and we are very excited about her! The product of much hard work and consideration, and all of that seems to have paid off! She sails beautifully to windward, and even better off the wind. However, it is on a close reach/broad reach where she really comes into her own. The boat is designed to the maximum allowed by the Footy rule, and resembles in some part an Open 60. We took the boat out for her maiden on a day when it was blowing about 23knts, and while over powered under her very large “A” rig, the boat seemed well balanced and responsive.

 

As of  now, Orange Crush is offered in a “hull only” form, consisting of a moulded fibreglass hull and a Fiberglass deck blank. However, as time goes on, and we are able to optimize the gear for this boat we hope to have a more complete “kit” version available soon!

LOA: 12”

LWL: 11 7/8”

Max. Beam: 5 3/4”

Max Displacement: 17 oz.

 

 

 

Notes: Orange Crush, like most boats, likes being sailed light. While the max. displacement for the boat is 17 oz, the test boat weighed in at 15.5. Needless to say, the boat responded beautifully to this lighter load. While its width allows for ample room for the electronics package, we used very small, very light radio gear, and we must say, this is our favorite boat so far!
