In this national award winning class the student is introduced to the world of Graphic Design and Printing, which will give them a basic view and skills for the printing industry and the many related career opportunities it entails. Along with the hands on project oriented learning styles, visits to various printing companies are taken to expand the vast potential opportunities available within the Graphics Industry. The class is taught with the option for job placement or post secondary education after high school graduation.

The students will be given an opportunity to explore Adobe’s InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator in a MAC Lab environment. They will complete take home hands-on projects that give them a design theory background as well as fine-tune their file management skills for mastering computer to plate (CTP) technology. The fun continues with learning how to run actual presses that are used in the printing industry - Just think of all your cool CD covers!!!!   You even take home your projects by wearing them. Create ideas to print for t-shirts and other textile items with our screen printing lab.

Additional options for learning opportunities in this program include die cutting, cutting, folding and binding; as we often do live jobs for actual customers. Skills are also taught for job estimating, customer service and job jacket writing.

Many different avenues are utilized to teach theory, software, manufacturing machines and problem solving. Please see link for Equipment List  for further explanation.

As you can see, this program is not only for budding creative artists but also for that person with a hands-on mechanical mind. Opportunities are endless and salaries are great!
