giving thanks

even though this isnt quite the face of giving thanks...we gave thanks! Reese had a sinus/ear infection so she wasnt quite up for a picture with the bird :) My parents and newlyweds ryan and whitney spent thanksgiving here at our house! It was lots of fun.  Games were played, lots was cooked, leftovers were eaten, fun was had! Besides the kids both having sinus infections, it was  a great holiday! Great football too, except sadly Auburn didn’t show up at the bama game!
Then sunday the sermon was on having an attitude or lifestyle of thanksgiving.  Remembereing things God has done in our life, blessings, and the way he has been faithful! So here are a few things i am thankful for
1. A God who loves me enough to care about all my silly stuff going on in my life and one who waits patiently for me to love him back with 1 speck of love or gratitude compared to the love he showers on me.
2. a husband who has such a tender, servant heart, with such humility and love.  I will be honest with you and say that i was thinking by the time we were pushind 3,4, or 5 years into marriage things would settle down and not be as excited, that i wouldn’t wish he could come home early, that i wouldnt be so excited to get a text that says “i am in the car headed home” etc. But it is not true at all Satan! I am so thrilled to be married to this man! I still get excited when he walks in the door! John compliments and balances me so well! He is my perfect match!
3. 2 healthy happy kids (for the most part!) who love life, outdoors and playing.
4. Reese was so excited to sit on santa’s lap after seeing him at the mall. So last night we let her.  He asked her what she wanted for christmas and for some reason she said a Christmas tree.  So he laughed and said what about under the tree little girl? and she said “presents for Jesus for his birthday”.  My heart nearly melted and all jolly old santa said was “kids say the darndest things dont they?” But i am so thankful for a little girl with such childlike faith!
5. Both john and I’s parents marriage who has held strong for over 30 years setting a great example of committment and love!
6. Extended family who are such a blessing and so much fun!
7. Bringing us here to durham and blessing us with influence and a chance to impact teenagers and employees at the store.
8. The blessing of operating a chick-fil-a store!! I am most thankful that John has a job that he doesnt consider work, but a passion and a priveledge.  Thanks Truett for teaching and providing that example of loving your work and using it not just for monetary gain but for ministry!
9. The UNC students i have met through baby sitting and Bible study! I am thankful for these women who share their lives with our family!
10. Our small group through church and each couple in it and the track God has them on.

I guess i could list forever but these are some of my top ones! I hope you thank God this season for all he has done for us! He is truly an awesome God so far beyond my ability to even thank or glorify or praise all of who he is! I am trying to rest in him this season and let go of silly worries or fears because i know he holds my concerns in his hand and cares for me.
