One of the things that I have been a keen proponent of, while at the RNZFB, has been virtualisation. Well over two years ago I saw a presentation on VMware. At this time I was exploring how to carry out a whole range of technological tasks for the Foundation addressing server consolidation, backup and business continuity - to name just three things.
This lead my team and myself down a path of virtualisation. It went so well I ended up speaking on it nationwide and in the USA. Additionally, as we were early adopters, we have had some coverage in the media as well.
All I can say in relation to virtualisation - “Just Do It!”
