Why?

The name ‘CodeRage’ symbolizes many ideas - a few of them we’re present in my mind already as I formed the company in early 2006, but a few more have surfaced afterwards.  First and foremost, code-rage is a feeling, it’s something that comes from within - and is closely linked with what I believe to be one of the most important attributes or characteristics that a person can have: passion.

Whether you are coding or writing a book, without passion you are just doing your job, without passion there isn’t any emotional bind to the material you are working with.  With passion - you are on fire!

Why rage?  CodePassion doesn’t sound any good - and sometimes I feel that the desire within me to write some code isn’t just a thing that I listen to - in fact, sometimes it drives me.  So rage, without the violent physical connotations fits quite well.

The Projects

Symbol Explorer
During the Big Nerd Ranch Cocoa course in Rome (Jan 2006), I took it upon myself to create a meta-browser for the information that an objective-c program can yield.

The original intention was that I would be able to use the program to discover the ‘private’ parts of a class - and I’m happy to say, goal achieved!

iPhotoTool (retired)
I like iPhoto - it’s a great tool for some media manipulation tasks - but when it comes to importing, my opinion is that it falls flat on it’s face.  Why such a simple feature isn’t already in this product I can only guess.  I’ve tried to rectify that with iPhotoTool, but don’t think I’ve really achieved the goal to be honest.  Importing works but it’s still incredibly limited due to the lack of control of folders, there’s no way to programmatically influence the folder hierarchy.

DeLoader
Just because I could really... I was literally bored of finding the .toast files I used for playing games and decided to take a foray into the world of Cocoa and AppleScript programming.

Best wishes,
    John.
