Current Sermon Series ---  Hebrews

When I think of what it means to be a good pastor, I must consider several things.  First, a good pastor and a good preacher are two different things.  Hopefully, a good pastor will preach well.  But, just because you can preach doesn’t always make you a good pastor.

The word “pastor” literally means shepherd.  What does a shepherd do?  He takes care of the sheep.  He watches over his flock and is always ready to protect and provide for them.  This means that a pastor is always on call.  he should always be ready to protect, provide and take care of his flock.

Jesus Christ is the Great Shepherd.  We trust that He provides and protects us.  Even better, He loves us and keeps all of His promises.

Part of shepherding God’s people means that we must be fed well.  I believe that the greatest sermons are expository.  Put simply, sermons should be done book by book, section by section, verse by verse and even word by word.  In so doing, the preacher never skips the uncomfortable passages.  He preaches “the whole council of God”.

Come join us on Sunday mornings as we discover how Christ is superior to anything that life can bring.  He is the greatest and final Word from God to us.  My prayer is that God uses the book of Hebrews to shape and mold us into the Church He has called us to be.

I pray God’s richest blessings on you as you seek to serve Him!
