A Virtual Polymerase Chain Reaction Instrument

Development of the virtual instruments


These tools are being developed as a result of a partnership among the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, UT Southwestern, The Peter O’Donnell Foundation, National Instruments, and Texas A & M University.  Software developed by Dr. Kenith Meissner (Texas A&M) and his lab personnel.  Software engine, LabView, donated by National Instruments.

What is a virtual instrument?


Virtual Instruments are computer programs that will simulate scientific instruments.  An image of the virtual instrument will appear on the computer screen.  Students will manipulate dials, knobs, etc. of the instrument with a mouse
