Thirty-five cities and counties  in California have appointed poet laureate to serve their communities. The post is almost as individually defined as the poet filling the role. What they have in common is civic awareness as well as a deep love for poetry. This photo project  celebrates these fine citizen poets.

Current Poets Laureate are pictured at the top of the site, indicated by yellow type, first state, then county followed by cities.  Lower down the Poets Laureate Emeriti, again listed by state, county and city in historical order.
