How may I help You?
Friday, August 1, 2008
Lately, I’ve been making a few trips to a nearby store. Even though a little more money departs from my wallet, it is such a pleasant experience. As soon as I walk in the door, I’m greeted by at least one store employee who is always very prompt to ask if they can help me find anything. It’s evident that they enjoy the work that they are doing and are there not only to serve their employer, but also the customer.
Just last week our church held VBS for our children and the children of the

How low can you go?

Last month we looked at one of the words translated for “praise” in the scriptures. The “worship” word we’ll look at this month is the Greek word proskuneo (found 72 times in the NT). It’s a word that comes from a couple of other Greek words that means: come close to or being near enough to whisper or even kiss. Strong’s Concordance even gives an example of a dog licking his master’s hand. It means to prostrate oneself or bow down (both literally and figuratively) in reverence.

You can probably guess that if you add “

Worship Words

There are several different words used in the Bible for “worship” and none of them mean music or singing. The original words used most often mean “bow down”, “reverence”, “honor publicly”, and “serve, as a slave”. “Praise” is most often attached to singing. It’s easy to think of singing praise and worship as the same, but really, praise singing is just a subset of worship. Worship is much more. Worship is to be our response to God with all that we are, to all that He is.
“Therefore I urge you,

What can I say?
Tuesday, April 1, 2008
Have you ever been at a loss for words? Ever felt like you’ve said too much? This past Good Friday and Easter, as we’ve examined the love of God through the sacrifice of Christ (for us no less), what crossed your mind? Maybe you felt immense gratitude; maybe immense guilt. Either way, you probably recognized the grandeur of God’s holiness. It’s humbling to sit at the foot of the cross and realize that the Creator of everything cares for even you.
A favorite song of mine, that sums it up very
