Brian K. Blount is President of Union Theological Seminary and the Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Virginia. He earned his M.Div. from Princeton Seminary and his PhD from Emory University. His areas of academic interest include the Gospel of Mark, the synoptic gospels, the Book of Revelation, cultural hermeneutics, and reading the biblical materials through the lens of the African American church. He teaches courses on the Book of Revelation, the Gospel of Luke, and cultural hermeneutics.
An ordained Presbyterian minister, he preaches and teaches at churches nationwide and is a member of the New Brunswick Presbytery Committee on Ministry. He is a member of the council of the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL), and chairperson of SBL’s program committee.
