The first month........

Our first month anniversary of living in Liberia has arrived. So much has happened in 30 short days and we give all the praise and glory to the Lord for His wonderful care and provision. We also are full of gratitude to you, our partners for your continuing prayer and financial support which makes our journey a reality.
As we reflect on this past month we’d like to share some special people and moments with you.
The home God has blessed us to rent is located on CongoTown Backroad. For those of you who enjoy surfing on GoogleEarth, our location is 6 degrees, 15’ 56.47”N and 10 degrees, 43’ 42.51”W. We’d like to introduce you to some smiling faces of the children who daily pass our house as they walk to and from school.

And then there are those children who are not fortunate enough to go to school but still enjoy having their beautiful smiles photographed....

We have delightfully discovered a bakery in our village that is within walking distance. We are thankful for this special blessing and for the delicious cinnamon rolls and bread that we can purchase. Please meet Louis Johnson, the owner, and his family, who makes all these delectable goodies

It was Louis who invited us to our first Liberian party to celebrate his son’s  college graduation. Louis was a very gracious host and served us delicious Liberian potato salad and grilled chicken and beef that had lots of red pepper!  The Liberians call the red pepper, pepe (pronounced “paypay”) and use it very liberally. Our lips were tingling for at least an hour! :-)

We’d also like you to meet Jacob and Anthony, our security guards. Jacob (on the right) has the day shift and Anthony (along with George whose picture was in our last newsletter) the night shift. These three men have very quickly become part of our family. We are very thankful for their good care and watching over us.

And then last, but not least, we’d like you to meet the latest additions to our home. This is People (yes, that is her name) and she just blessed us with 9 puppies! Anyone need a puppy for Christmas?

We look forward to sharing more with you in our December newsletter. Until then.....we pray God’s special blessings on all you this most holy season.
