PKN VI - Trash And Treasure
2010
Laryssa and I share a common belief or two: it’s a poor craftsman that blames their tools, and there is art to be found everywhere. Art in our museums, art in our garbage, art in our face that we usually don’t see. Funny thing though; with a little reconfiguration in the hands of an artist, those aesthetic features go from being nearly invisible to being undeniable. Which is pretty cool when you start to see that underlying art in the everyday as perception bleeds from the confines of art into the raw materials.
Long, ambling introductions are clearly my specialty, but that’s not why Laryssa comes to us; Laryssa is here to show us how she creates from what is just lying around us every day. The outcomes will surprise and (hopefully!) inspire, and her talk is not to be missed!!!
Don’t miss Laryssa present her work in Pecha Kucha format this saturday, 8/28/2010!
