Supernova + Pecha Kucha!
2010
One of the most electric speakers we have had the pleasure to host in Pecha Kucha Night: Philadelphia has been Professor Kevin Werbach; He teaches at Wharton, he has led part of President Obama’s transitionary team, he advises companies and studies a wild variety of subjects, including the powerful virtual economies that surround his Tauren WoW character.
This tragically light load has clearly left him shockingly idle, because Kevin Werbach also founded the Supernova Group, which follows the cutting edge of technology and advises on its implications. It is this that brings us to the grist of the post - every year, Kevin and his Supernova Group host a two-day conference that will be local in Philly for the first time: Supernova 2010, which will take place July 29-30th, 2010.
Supernova 2010 seeks to answer what will happen next, as our world of business, technology and finance continues to throw in the wild waves of change under pressure. Speakers include an amazing representation of leaders in technology, policy and the futures of both, and would well benefit the ears and brains of entrepreneurs, hackers, freelancers, students, designers and other professionals in the world of constant innovation. And, for the first time, it will include a Pecha Kucha session!
For Pecha Kucha: the bill is still being developed, but the early-adopters are already enticing, including (and take care not to read too much into these tentative titles - the element of surprise must be maintained!)
•Jennifer Pahlka (Code for America)
•Lisa Galarneau (Cultural Anthropologist) - On Glasnost
•Heather Gold and Kevin Marks (TummelVision) - What is Tummeling
•Scott Heiferman (Meetup) - Community Networks and the Real-World App Store:
Sounds great, right? of course! Typically, though, this is where price comes in. Conferences of this sort can sometimes be prohibitively expensive, and has in the past (at least speaking personally) led to a shrugging of the shoulders and an about-face.
This, however, is where Pecha Kucha Night: Philadelphia can help!
Supernova 2010 has generously offered a discount for members of the Pecha Kucha community, in an act i can only describe as a “solid”
When you check out the registration page, just enter the password “sn100” and save $50 on registration. This conference will be a valuable chance to network and learn at an extremely reasonable price, something that I highly recommend.
(and not just because they’re embracing the Pecha - Kucha concept!)
