McIntire Park Herpetofauna Survey
McIntire Park Herpetofauna Survey
2011-2012
Charlottesville High School is nestled right next to a wonderful natural resource, McIntire Park. This unique physical partnership provides our students and the city at large with a number of diverse opportunities. The park can be used for recreational activities (mountain biking, hiking and trail running), educational activities (bird watching and species sampling), and relaxing (picnicking, family gatherings, and community events). Surprisingly, little is known about the natural history of this park (flora and fauna that call this area home). We hope this survey will fill that void.
To learn more about this study, to see photos of our students in action, to view data, species pages, and interactive videos please explore the links on the left of the page.
We would also like to thank the groups and individuals who have helped to take this survey from a dream to reality. Thank you to the I3 grant committee, the Charlottesville PTO, Mike Clifford of the Virginia Herpetological Society, Butch Brodie of Mountain Lake Biological Station, Jessica Kalagher, Kristy Lobianco, Chris Bunin, and the administration at our high school.
