I am currently a graduate student in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of South Carolina at Columbia. I am pursuing my PhD under the guidance of Dr. Scott White in marine geology and geophysics. I received my bachelor's of science in geology from North Carolina State University in May of 2008, where I worked as a research assistant with Dr. DelWayne Bohnenstiehl and taught three semesters of Introduction to Geology Laboratory for Dr. Jeff Reid.
My interest in volcanic edifices along the mid-ocean ridge system began while working with Dr. Bohnenstiehl analyzing high resolution side-scan sonar and phase derived bathymetry. Dr. Bohnenstiehl and I published our work in Geochemistry, Geophysics and Geosystems in 2008 (full citation and link to abstract).
Currently, I am working on size and abundance distributions of volcanic mounds along intermediate spreading centers. The goal of this work is to constrain the influence of magma supply on a ridge system, independent of spreading rate and ridge axis morphology. I presented a poster of this work at the American Geophysical Union Fall 2008 meeting. Contact me if you would like a copy of my poster.
