CORE 102:

After a brief review of the 101 core class,  Core 102 will be geared at taking that next step in Core training with more advanced exercises, leading towards avoiding sport- and work-specific injuries.  Exercise balls, myofascial rollers and therapy bands will all be added in the mix to help avoid mental burnout and increase core strength.


CORE 102 Itinerary:

6 - 6:15pm:  Intro to Core (review of neutral pelvis, proper positioning and basic core exercises)


6:15 - 6:50pm:  Core 102 (specific exercises w/ myofascial rollers, exercise bands and exercise balls)


7 - 7:30pm:  Core 102 for runners (specific core exercises for runners to avoid most common running injuries)


Alyssa Gasca

 Training from the Core, LLC was formed by Alyssa Gasca (MA Ed, Certified PEAK(R) Pilates instructor). A lifelong health and fitness enthusiast, Alyssa began practicing Pilates regularly after having her first child, and quickly became hooked as she saw the results it had on her mind and body.  As a runner and triathlete, she experienced first hand the role a stronger core and better posture played in preventing injuries.  Never one to keep a good thing a secret, she decided to leave her career as a corporate trainer and consultant to follow her passion and apply her skills and enthusiasm to a new arena. Alyssa's goal is to make the benefits of increased core strength and flexibility more accessible to athletes at all levels so they can continue to enjoy their sports pain free.


Running Clinic Itinerary:

Learn the elements of proper running form from head to toe to lessen the chance of injury and maximize performance through greater power and running efficiency.  About 1 hour with Q and A.  Includes handout and DVD w/ running form drills.  Cost is $10/person and seating is limited. Please RSVP  with  the clinic. 


Sean Coster , Owner of Complete Running Solutions,(www.crpusa.com---a must see website for runners) has been passionate about running for the last 19 years, as a Division I athlete, graduate student, and coach. Sean’s unique ability to evaluate each runner’s physiological and psychological responses to their training programs enables the athletes he partners with to realize their potential in running.  Sean is currently interested in the relationship between self-selected running paces and energy expenditure in competitive runners and the role running specific strength training has on the performance of distance runners.

Sean is a coach of the Nike Bowerman Athletic Club,  member of the coaching staff at the Nike Sports center in Beaverton, OR and founder of Complete Running Programs.  Sean’s coaching advice has been seen in Runners World, Competitor Magazine and Race Center Northwest.  Sean has achieved level I coaching certification from USATF and accreditation with the Road Runners Club of America.
