This last flown Mercury Capsule is displayed hanging in front of a field of fiber-optic stars. It is very impressive, although the dark hall makes it difficult to see detail. This flash photo gives a good view of the parachute compartment and the orientation of the hatch and window. Notice below the window you can see the star-shaped Faith 7 emblem, partially scoured by re-entry gases. |

Before Space Center Houston was constructed, the Johnson Space Center's Visitor Museum was located in the back of Building 1, the training auditorium. Hanging near the stairs was Faith 7 and Gemini 5. In 1990 I shared an office here and passed the spacecraft everyday, but never thought to take a picture.
