The Saturn V at the US Space and Rocket Center was known as the Dynamic Test Vehicle.  It was the first Saturn V produced for dynamic vibration studies in the large Dynamic Test Facility at Marshall Space Flight Center.  After completetion of testing, designer of the Saturn V  and chief of Marshall Werner von Braun, with a bit of slyness, petitioned to have the vehicle placed in 'temporary storage' right off the property, where the Space and Rocket Center was constructed. placed under the care of the Smithsonian Institution, as have been the other two Saturns, and declared a National Engineering Landmark.

It is located in the Davidson Center for Space Exploration, which opened its doors to the fully restored Saturn on February 9, 2008.  The Apollo BP-23, which once sat outside in MSFC's rocket park, has also been restored and mounted with the Saturn stack.

The paint scheme is consistant with its original appearence, inlcuding the "USA" on the S-IVB stage.  The third stage also include the smaller rocket package found on Saturn IB second stages.
