Plausible back-story:
I lived in the backwoods of Upper Michigan my entire life.
I spent 18 years raising my family, struggling as a self employed house painter, and playing gigs part-time at local taverns and festivals.  I began writing songs somewhere along the way, because I could not find material which reflected my values or had any link to what my reality was about.  Regardless of how economically unfeasible it was to perform original material in a remote rural location, my songs were surprisingly well received by the crowds of  miners, lumberjacks, bikers and other real people who frequented the dives where I played.  My thanks to them.
I wanted to start a new band in 2005, but had recently lost 2 good music buddies.  Having no people to work with, I did the first Mundanes album “Las Vegas New Mexico” as a fictional 4 piece band, and played all the parts myself.  After I sent the demo around to shop for some festival gigs, I realized that I was going to have to wrangle up a band.  My son Cameron and our neighbor Jeff were 17 years old at the time and were a bad ass rhythm section.  I enlisted them into doing the gigs with me and having a backlog of material, I soon started them in on the Medicine Tree project.
Next, I moved to Kentucky and became a teacher.  I wanted to pursue my passion, and now that I know my passion is tormenting kids, it’s working out great!
Being in “The golden triangle” between Indianapolis, Louisville and Cincinnati is giving me exposure and for the first time providing a variety of gigs, opportunities and a diverse fan base.  It could not have happened any better really, because my writing, playing and singing are much better than when I first started in the record business 13 years ago.  I am much better prepared for the bigger game, both in terms of skill and stability.
