(This is not something I’m posting because I want everyone to know this! I simply want to make sure this gets in the family scrapbook I hopefully will get around to having made from all of these entries! Arian thinks a lot of these entries are corny but I only include memories I want to remember and this most likely being a one time thing is definitely something worth remembering!)
Arian and I had a lot of fun performing at the Mesquite Festival of Trees! Arian sang and I accompanied him on the piano. Here’s a list of songs we performed:
The Happy Elf -Harry Connick Jr song
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Winter Wonderland (with verse #2 made up by Arian with words about how great it is to live in the sunny wonderland of Mesquite during the winter)
It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
Star of Bethlehem
I Saw Three Ships-John Schmidt-my piano solo
Arian accidentally left his music and the sheet I typed up with things for him to say inbetween the songs ...at home. He did an amazing job “winging” it. Our friend Michelle ran home and got the music for us so we had it for round 2 (we did the 30 minute performance twice-an hour apart). Arian said some really funny things inbetween the songs and one of my favorite memories was coming home after it was all over and laughing with Arian for 30 minutes straight about our whole experience. My husband is hilarious. Oh, if Lawrence Welk could have seen our gig! According to Arian, we’d be perfect for his show!
The funny thing was that the performance schedule had been posted in the paper so we had realtors, neighbors, and a few friends show up who knew us. Yep, we had fans (think small group)! I had envisioned our gig being strictly background music and us off in a back corner singing/playing while people meandered through the trees, but they had chairs set up and we had a little audience!
Thanks Arian for being willing to do this with me!!
This is what Kenneth did while I practiced the piano:
We reached 2 babysitter status this night; one babysitter to be at home with Kenneth and another to come with us, care for Audrey and video-tape us. Parenting keeps us on our toes and I know we’re only just beginning!
I love the music of the Christmas season!!
