“Flying Fingers, Pounding Hearts” is the full length documentary about the 2007 Virginia Waring International Piano Competition. During the eight days of the Competition, I shot more than thirty hours of video footage. It then took me ten days to edit that footage down to eighty minutes. The project definitely became a labor of love for me. I had never seen nor heard such magnificent piano-playing. And, amazingly, all the music was performed by youngsters under the age of seventeen. This three minute excerpt will give you just a taste of the considerable artistry of the competitors. It will be screened again at the Rancho Mirage Public Library on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 7 PM. Following the screening there will be a special live performance by pianists Ariel and Weston Mizumoto. Weston was a prize-winner at the 2007 event.
