in 2004, at the start of the alcs, i made a bet with my boss on the red sox yankees series. the gist of the bet was this: if the red sox won, he had to buy me sports memorabilia; furthermore, if they went on to win the world series, he had to buy me twice as much. he got on my case after the first and second games... so i doubled down... twice. you all know what happened then.

i spent his money on some autographed world series baseballs and that was the beginning of my memorabilia collecting. recently i have moved away from collecting autographs and started collecting game used memorabilia. unsurprisingly, my wife is less than pleased. there are not too many women who appreciate baseball bats lying around the living room.
