The scrabble area rug is 76” x 76” and is a replica of the original Selchow & Righter scrabble board of the 1950’s. It is a durable nylon that will last a lifetime. Former US and World Scrabble Champion, Joel Sherman, pictured above, lies upon our scrabble rug to give you an idea of the size of this beauty. Some have used the rug an a wall hanging as pictured on the right.
More than once it has been asked if tiles come with the carpet. Unfortunately, the answer is no. But that hasn’t stopped several scrabble word freaks to construct their own tiles out of a variety of materials. One scrabble-playing artist from Maui made up tiles on 3/4 inch, birch-finished plywood. Each tile was hand stenciled. He offered to sell a set of tiles for $550 back in 1997.
The scrabble carpet sells for $125 + $25 shh (locally)
