You most likely know that there are more than 100 naughty words in the OWL2 that are banned from the OSPD4.
A group of church ladies decided that we might be able to eliminate profanity and politically incorrect language by simply excluding it from the dictionary.
How foolish. But, they were successful in persuading the publishers of the OSPD4 to eliminate a set of words that appear in the OWL2 from including those words in the OSPD4 (for the sake of the purity of our children.)
Smells of censorship to me.
WHich Books will be next?
Thank the great pooh-bah that the members of the scrabble community are wise enough to recognize that a ‘word’ is merely a ‘word’. People generate new words every day. Words are here to allow us to communicate our ideas, thoughts, and feelings.
Telling me that I cannot express myself with a word, no matter how offensive, is the same as telling me that I have no right to ‘feel’ that way.
Even though I pride myself in being knowledgeable, there are several words on the ‘pooh list’ that I am unable to define for you. one word that is not on the list is one that make me physically ill (Tuna).
I have collected and put all of those naughty words on a single list. You are free to play them, or not, when at naspa clubs and tournaments.
