I did a BS wash on Thursday night, so day 13. I did a pre-wash with a mixture of half-white vinegar, half-water to clear my scalp of any residue or flakes that might be there. I rinsed well, I didn’t feel I needed the BS that much, but I did it anyway since I had to go away for three days without washing my hair. I followed by ACV rinse and since my hair is very dry, I added honey to the length of my hair. It wasn’t sticky as I had expected. I let it sit for a couple of minutes, then I rinsed everything really well, with very warm water (if not, the honey will solidify) and it made my hair really soft! After that, I followed by a cool chamomille tea rinse. I didn’t rinse. It dried out very puffy, but very soft.
Then, I went to Auckland for the weekend, friday my hair looked GREAT, although from the 7 hours car ride it got a little greasy of sticky on the back. I think. But JF assured me it didn’t show. Saturday was okay too, I wore it up, but without bandana, and we went shopping and to the restaurant, and it looked fine. I didn’t feel like it was dirty, it feeled fine. Saturday night, I went to the Red Hot Chili Peppers show, so I decided to wear a tuque to “protect” it from beer and other liquids flying everywhere. It worked great, although I sweated a lot! The ideal thing would have been to rinse it right afterwards, but I didn’t do that cause it was too late, and I didn’t want to go to bed with damp hair. On sunday, it was flat on top of my hair (from the tuque) so I put it up, and wore a bandana around my head. It looked fine like that. At night, I combed it really well, and rinsed it with warm water, while scrubbing my scalp really well. I then followed by ACV and chamomille tea rinses. The length of my hair is really dry and those rinses do wonders in detangling it. It was late though, I had to blowdry it a little, but I used cool air. I brushed it this morning (I didn’t let it dry in waves like I usually do). It is okay today, I feel it’s a little greasy at the roots though, especially in the back. But it’s not dirty, and it’s not itchy either. So, I’ll tough it out! I know it’s detox kicking in, it’s the beginning of my third week. I think I’ll have to wait at least until week 6 to see an improvement.
But toughing it out is not a big deal for me, since I really don’t miss shampoo\conditioner. Even seeing the sketchy state of my hair right now, I have no desire to go back. The fact that I have long hair is both an obstacle and a great help. It’s way tougher to rinse, but I can wear it in many different styles if it doesn’t look too good when it’s down. I can go away with a lot when it’s wavy too. The next time, I will let it dry wavy. An other thing that doesn’t help the way it looks is that I would need to have my roots colored. The natural color is showing, and in contrast with the blond it makes my hair look dirty. If you look at the second picture where my roots aren’t showing, it looks much better. I don’t want to color it now though, my hair is too dry. So, today, I’ll wear a ponytail and a bandana. :)
JF is a great help, he’s really supportive. I’m so lucky to have him. And he’s doing it too, water only, since he has short hair, lucky him! He warm-water rinses it every day, and it looks fantastic! It is way thicker now, and it dries in a really cool style, without any product! It smells and feels good. Very soft. :)
I want to end up water-only, I’ll probably keep some of the rinses, but no BS. I am afraid it’s going to cause buildup on my scalp if I use it too much. I’d like to go down to once a week for now, and later, maybe once every two weeks.
