Russian language graduation proficiency test

Step 1: Contact Dr. Gray by email and arrange for a date and time to take the test.  In your email introduce yourself and say a word about your background, tell how many semesters remain before you graduate, and indicate when it will be best to meet with Dr.Gray based on his schedule of free hours (Monday and Wednesday: 8:00-8:30; 10-11:30; 13:00-13:30; and Tuesday and Thursday 8:00-8:30; 10:30-11:00; 13:00-13:30).

Step 2: Go to http://www.csus.edu/fl/forms.htm and print out Foreign Language “Proficiency Test - Languages other than Spanish - Signup” Form.

Step 3: The test will take place in Dr. Gray’s office, Mariposa Hall, Room 2050.  Arrive on time.  Bring the proficiency test signup form (above) with Sections 1 and 2 filled out.  You’ll need to write down your nine-digit Sac State student ID number (available from MySacState).  Bring photo ID.  There is no charge for the test.

Step 4: Expect the test to take 20-25 minutes.  You will be asked to engage in conversation on everyday topics and to read a short passage of Russian prose.  To pass the test, your level of proficiency in speaking and reading should be equivalent to that of a good student upon completion of Russian 2A at Sac State.

Note:  Tests are given only during fall or spring semesters.  Wait until Week 2 of the semester to contact Dr. Gray to schedule taking your test.  Do not contact him during the last two weeks of the semester.
