Prepare ex. 10-2 and 10-3.  Then listen to the three “Разговоры для слушания”.  Write your answers to the questions on pp. 383-384.

Then turn to the main part of tonight’s assignment:  Dialogs.  There are six of them to read and translate.  Don’t miss the culture box on p. 386; it’ll give you indispensable information for when you go visiting someone in Russia.  Prepare ex. 10-4 and 10-5.  You’ll need to know how to handle the situations listed in ex. 10-6 for the unit test.

Here are unpaused recordings of the dialogs to listen to as you read.

Important two-day assignment!

Section 5:  Telling time.

Learn the common way of telling time.  In this system, there are two forms:  (1) for the first half hour, and (2) for the second half hour.  Examples:

Сейчас десять минут шестого.  It’s ten past five (5:10).

Сейчас без десяти минут шесть.  It’s ten to six.  (5:50).

Он пришёл в десять минут шестого.  He arrived at ten past five (5:10).

Он ушёл без десяти минут шесть.  He left at ten to six (5:50).

There’s a lot to telling time correctly.  We’ll spend two days on Section 6 (telling time).  Practice, practice, practice, until you can give any time of day without hesitation.

Study pages 395-397.  Read the examples out loud.  Prepare the exercises on p. 398 in your TXBK.  Listen to and prepare the following four oral exercises.
