Course description:  Student reads three novels in Russian and writes a summary of each book in Russian.  Dictionaries may be consulted.  3 units of credit.

In addition to turning in a summary of each book, the student will submit a signed statement verifying that he or she has read every word of the book in Russian.

Choose from these four sets of novels:

1. 1. Достоевский:  Записки из подполья, Преступление и наказание, Братья Карамазовы.
   

2. 2. Толстой:  Семейное счастье, Анна Каренина, Война и мир.
   

3. 3. Highlights of 19th century:  Отцы и дети (Тургенев), Преступление и наказание (Достоевский), Анна Каренина (Толстой).
   

4. 4. Highlights of 20th century:  Мы (Замятин), Доктор Живаго (Пастернак), В круге первом (Солженицын).
