Domestic Electrical Services

In January 2005 Part P of the building regulations came into effect bringing domestic electrical installation work under the legal framework of the Building Regulations. Certain aspects of this work, for example kitchen, bathroom and outdoor installations, new circuits and rewires, are now notifiable to building control and subject to inspection and approval. Electricians and contractors who are members of a Competent Persons Scheme are able to self notify this work and provide government backed warranties.
