The Millennium Village Project supports 12 clusters of villages in west and east Africa. The purpose of the project is to work with the poorest to help alleviate their poverty and help them achieve the Millennium Development Goals. In 2004, Sauri, located in Western Kenya's Siaya District, became the first Millennium Village. This was my first trip to the village.
