My son was injured on the afternoon of Sunday, December 1, 2002. He was on his way back to school at the University of Oregon, following the Thanksgiving break. I had spent the day flying across country from our home in Oregon to Florida.

I was in Tampa approximately three hours when I got the call.  As I learned of his accident, he awaited surgery. I arranged a flight back home and arrived at the hospital early in the evening of December 2nd. Later that night I sent out the first of my emails to friends and family.

Late in 2004, I stopped sending out emails and started writing elsewhere...
