So I’ve lead worship so much in the last week that I decided to save it up and do one post about it. As I typed that it seems like a really dumb idea though. Oh well!

Last Saturday Living Waters House of Prayer here in Wichita had 24 hour praise and prayer event at their building downtown. I love these events. I think it’s an amazing thing to have that going no matter who’s there, or not there. So had the privilege of leading the first shift from midnight to 2am. I had such a great time just praising God for 2 hours straight! There was only 1 other person there besides me and the guy in charge during my 2 hours, but after I was done that 1 lady told how touched she was because I did a couple of songs that keep coming up in her life and continue to speak to her spirit. I hope I get to do that again soon!

I’ve lead worship for the last two weeks at church. (Insert shameless plug for Asbury Church West Campus Here). I love leading there. The people are great worshipers and the team is just amazing! The last few Weeks we’ve been in a sermon series called “The Games We Play.” This has been all about the games we play trying to follow God our own way. Everything from avoiding His calling to pretending that our plan is God’s plan. It’s been good.

So anyway, last Sunday 3.21 our set was...
All Because of Jesus by Steve Fee
Everlasting God by Brenton Brown
This is Our God by Glenn Packiam (Performed by New Life Worship and Desperation Band)
The Stand - Hillsong

These songs really worked well together. Everyone on the team mentioned how much they enjoyed the set. “This is Our God” was a new song for Asbury West but everyone seemed to really get into it. If you haven’t heard it, go check it out because it is a great song!

Sunday 3.28 was, of course, Palm Sunday. Our set was...
God is Great by Marty Sampson - Hillsong
Blessed Be Your Name by Matt Redman
Grace Like Rain by Todd Agnew
Invitacion Fountain - Michael J. Pritzl - Vinyard
Holy is the Lord - Chris Tomlin

Since it was Palm Sunday we did a special deal during Blessed Be Your Name where the kids came in with palm branches, waved them around for a little bit and left them at the front of the room. It was pretty cool. There were a few little issues on Sunday that were distracting to us on the stage, but I’m not sure anyone in the audience noticed, they seemed to be engaged. Overall a Good Sunday and a GREAT couple of weeks of leading worship.

And I don’t know how my friend found it, but I’m glad she did. It’s simply called Bierocks. And that’s exactly what they sell, homemade, delicious, Bierocks!

What’s a Bierock you might ask? It’s a German pastry but instead of being sweet and sugary, it’s filled with meat, cabbage, onions and sometimes cheese. Scrumtrulescent is all I can say!

I don’t think I completely understood what I was getting into when I agreed to go get one either. It’s a tiny storefront that’s smaller than my living room. You walk up to the window and you can order a Bierock with or without cheese. And you can get a hotdog or a brat but why would you? If the place is called Bierocks, that’s probably the only thing worth ordering.

It’s one of those little places that, I’m discovering, Wichita is all about. It might be hard to find, but once you do, you’ll go out of your way to pay them a visit. So I encourage you, whether you’re in the area or not, to make your way out to Riverside and pay a visit to Bierocks at 11th and Bitting. It’ll be well worth the drive!

Everyone thinks their toddler is the smartest kid in the world, right? Well mine actually is! When he was just 1 1/2 he figured out how to scroll through pictures on the iPhone(see video below). It didn’t take him long to figure out how to wake the iPhone from sleep. Now he can navigate the entire thing! I hand him the iPhone, he wakes it, scrolls through pages of apps to find the one he wants, and opens it. Sometimes it’s just a logo he recognizes like “Daddy’s Coffee” (Starbucks) or Pizza Hut. But it’s also opening up the Light Saber App and turning on the music and having a duel. And he knows which games are specifically for him.

And this is how we come to today’s review. I haven’t played most of these games myself, but these “toddler apps” keep my 2 year old occupied for an hour or more at a time if I let him.

SHAPES:
This was the first App I downloaded for him. It displays anywhere from 4 to 6 shapes and asks him to touch one. Because of this game my son knows what a hexagon and a crescent are. Sometimes he purposefully pics all the wrong ones first just so he can hear the funny noises or make it last longer. Part of what keeps him going too is every so often you get to put a “sticker” on a page.

LETTER QUIZ and NUMBER QUIZ:
These two Apps are just like Shapes except for it’s Letters and Numbers. They give you four choices and it audibly tells you which one to pick. Again, when you pick the wrong one it makes funny sounds, BUT when you pick the correct letter, it shows and says an object beginning with that letter, i.e. B for Ball. And in the Number Quiz you get a picture with say, 1 Monkey, or 2 Keys.

There are many other educational apps and apps specifically targeted at toddlers and young kids. These are simply the ones we have chosen and my son absolutely loves them! He gets a kick out of the noises and the pictures and the opportunity to put “stickers” on a page. I think Caleb would give these apps 5 Stars! I do and I encourage you to check them out!
