The Distributors were active from 1978 to 1980 and belonged to the post-punk wave of British bands who combined the immediacy and energy of punk with a more experimental approach, combining elements of funk and dub with ideas drawn from contemporary avantgarde music, performance art and conceptual art. The band played live regularly around England, appeared n BBC Radio One’s John Peel Show, and released several singles on the independent Red Rhino label.
