Scott had a great night!!!   Tonight I took his mitten off and held his hand while I talked to him.   He first put my hand against his check and leaned on it.   I thought that was pretty great, but then he took my hand and kissed it!!   I couldn’t believe it.   And then he did it again and again.   The RPT came in and was looking at his trach and saw him do it and said, “Did he just kiss your hand?”

“Yep!”

“Wow, that’s great.  He’s really making progress.”

 

It gets better though.  I thought if he could kiss my hand, he might be able to kiss my lips, so I tried and he did!   It really felt nice to be kissed by my husband.  

 

I had to say bye to him at about 8:00 and told him to try to sleep tonight.  (He probably won’t.  He has his days and nights mixed up).  But I forgot something and had to go back.   He was still awake so I said bye to him again and he made a sound!   He has not tried to talk yet, so this was really good as well.  It was just a grunt, but who’s complaining.   It’s the first step to talking!
