Dawn now lives with her new family in Connecticut and is a beautiful liver chestnut. The middle left picture shows her shedding out at 2 months. See how dark her muzzle area is? The color contrast is also clear in the bottom picture, taken at one week, which shows the color Dawn has become -- her dam’s liver chestnut color. Dawn was curious and outgoing from birth: always the first to come to examine the truck when we entered the yearling’s large pasture to trim, worm, groom, vaccinate or train the horses. No matter where she was in those 45 acres, she would always come to me when I called. But when her new owner arrived to pick her up, I called out her name as we climbed over the fence. Dawn emerged from the herd and started toward me; but then she saw Bonnie and heard Bonnie call her name. Dawn immediately went to her instead -- the first time she had ever chosen a “stranger” over me. I knew then that I had found just the right home for my beautiful filly. They seemed to bond right away. Dawn and Bonnie now work together in Bonnie’s natural horsemanship program in Connecticut.
