Who Are We
Willin Wimmin is a women’s community choir. It was formed in 1991 under the leadership of Bronwen Barton and is currently led by Jennifer Lund. Our choir is a place where we foster cooperation, validation and mutual respect through singing together.
What We Sing
We sing a wide range of songs from various genres both classical and modern as well as songs which celebrate cultural diversity.
Where We've Performed
Over the years we have sung at many political, sport, art, health and women’s issues events which took us to a variety of venues such as the National Art Gallery of Victoria, Fairlea Women’s Prison and the Maribyrnong Detention Centre. Women’s issues are always at the forefront of our philosophy. We have sung for Women’s Health West, National Women in Construction Awards, Emily’s List, 10th Anniversary of Women’s Studies at Latrobe University, Women’s Lacrose Championship, ‘Spot On Joan’ Concert, Reconciliation events, local festivals and demonstrations.
Our Values
From the beginning we developed very strong values around community access, singing for everyone and supporting social justice within the community at large.
To Join
No auditions, singing experience or music background is required. Just a good sense of humour and a willingness to be involved with our community.
