• Biography

Jeni was born into a family of performers. Her mother a singer/actor/vocal coach and her grandparents television, film and Broadway actor/musicians, made performing second nature for Jeni. She began performing on stage at age 8 and was SAG/Aftra by 13. With childhood acting/singing/dancing training at A.C.T in San Francisco, San Jose Civic Light Opera as well as dance training with Ben Vereen and Charlie Mc Gowan Jeni is definitely considered a triple threat.

After her role as Erzulie in Once On This Island at SJCLO with a cast of New Yorkers Jeni decided to move to New York City. Soon after her transition, Jeni was hired to sing on Wyclef Jean's debut solo album, The Carnival, and became one of the lead singers on this Grammy-nominated hit version of the Latin classic "Guantanamera featuring Legendary Celia Cruz."

She was signed to Sony/Columbia Records and since has toured with Wyclef, The Fugees, Pink and Quincy Jones' Tamia and been featured on recordings with such artists as Lauryn Hill, Kymani Marley, Everlast, Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse and most recently featured on Amir Sullaiman's album along side Mos Def and Goapele.

Jeni released her debut solo album this December 2008 entitled "This Little Light of Mine" on itunes which like Jeni is an ecclectic soulful blend.  The album has a sultry neo soul feel, vocals are reminiscent of Minnie Ripperton and Jill Scott and the message is one of her personal journey to discovering her "little light" within.
