The Free Bridge Quintet returns to Old Cabell Hall for the their fall concert, “1959: The Year That Changed Jazz,” on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 8:00pm.   Their golden anniversary tribute will pay attention to five groundbreaking LPs recorded in that monumental year.  Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue,” Charles Mingus’ “Mingus Ah Um,” Ornette Coleman’s “The Shape of Jazz to Come,” Dave Brubeck’s “Time Out,” and John Coltrane’s “Giant Steps,” all, in their own way, pushed the boundaries of jazz.  For ticket information, call 434-924-3376.
