Mercersburg Theology: A Quest for Reformed Catholicism (Part 1)
I gave this lecture at the Biblical Horizons Conference in 1992. That’s 15 years ago! Man, I can’t believe it’s been that long. I feel old. Very old.
Even so, I still like these lectures. But keep in mind that a lot of water has passed under the bridge since 1992. D. G. Hart’s book on Nevin was 14 years in the future. The whole Federal Vision fiasco was more than 10 years away. A group of us Presbyterian ministers were just having fun and enjoying what we were learning from the Bible and from neglected sources in our Reformed tradition. Now, goodness me, we just can’t allow that kind of fun anymore, can we?
