The Wizard
Just finished listening to the Wizard of Apple. Man, I love this stuff. Every August we get something new and cooler. Way cool.
Now, I know that lots of Apple lovers were hoping for some new funky design for the Mac Pro. But it makes sense to keep it all looking pretty much the same. After all, they just moved to the Intel chips and visual continuity is probably pretty important for a while. Look for a new case early next year or maybe even next summer. I almost said something like: who cares how it looks? But, of course, we all really do care a whole lot how it looks. Bracketing the silly clamshell iBook (or the toilet seat iBook, if you like), Apple simply makes the coolest looking stuff.
The old PowerMac metal case is still pretty stunning, if you ask me. And now a blazing fast, 64 bit Quad machine is affordable. But I have to wait 4 weeks. Bummer.
Since the introduction of the Intel Macs I have met a mess of guys who have switched out there PC laptops for the new machines. Now that you can dual boot with Windows, Macs are a lot more attractive.
Oh, and I have to marvel at Microsoft’s recent blunder. Take a look. Try not to laugh. It’s really kinda sad.
