The first layer of drywall is starting to go up. I took these tonight (Sunday night) so the lighting is a little tough with the camera flash being the only light source. The mud / tape / acoustic sealant is not yet up for the first layer. There will be up to 4 layers of drywall on each wall, depending on the wall. Since the control room is a “room within a room” that means there could be 6-8 layers of drywall in there. You can also see some of the HVAC returns and vents more easily now.

The space is really starting to take form with the installation of the insulation. I’ve taken several shots of the live room, and some shots from within the control room. I wish I had a wide-angle lens so you could get a feel for the size of this place.

I’ve also taken two shots of the kitchenette wall and lounge area so you can see the “before” version. Note, we took out a wall to make the space wide.

Audio and control cable wiring (phase 1) was completed over the past weekend. This includes runs to main studio, two iso rooms, two sound locks. Pass-thru’s were included for all rooms. This allows guitar players etc to track guitars in any room (including control room) while the amplifier is in an isolated room. Thom from Wes Lachot Design even cooked up a pass thru for a leslie organ speaker! Note the cool pictures from the upper corner of live room shows you just how big the area is.

HVAC continues to go in. One dedicated 2.5 Ton for the Control Room and one dedicated 3.0 Ton for the Studio and Iso Booths / Sound locks. Note the vibration isolators (spring things). These HVACs are separate from the offices...so we’ll have 3 A/C units in 2000 SF... Crazy Cool.

Framing is done and the electrical is going in over the last few days. All the outlets will be a “home-run” to the panel and have “star grounding”. Gotta love the dual meaning!
