Bittersweet...

Barack Obama won!   Yoohoo!  Almost everything I voted for won, from the speedy little train to the roomy chicken coop to teen girls keeping their rights to privacy.  Yes, everything won, including Proposition 8.  *Sigh*..... I’m completely sick about it.  Do most people even realize that by voting Yes you are voting for discrimination?  I suspect some did not.  And for those who did realize, WTF?   In particular, minorities who voted for it, again, WTF?  Why would anyone vote for something that perpetuates discrimination in the name of... love?   I cannot wrap my head around it.  At all.  I can listen to people who are conservative about certain issues and I hear their point, although I hardly ever agree with it.  But I hear it, I gotcha, you don’t want a tax increase.  Got it.  But banning marriage between two people who are in love?????  Boggles my mind.  And seriously, who is it hurting?  Marriage has been legal for everyone in Denmark for over 35 years.  Same goes for many European countries.  As far as I know, the sky did not fall, the banks did not collapse, and none of the kids grew four eyes or eight limbs when anyone who wanted to, and who were in love, got married.   If someone could explain this hatred to me in intelligent terms, please do.  But I really don’t think anyone will be calling me with a reasonable explanation that will make me think “Oh, I get it!  That’s why people who are in love shouldn’t be allowed to get married!”   Seriously folks, what is so scary about love and marriage for everyone?  So scary that you want to legally ban it (in a state that you don’t even live in; I’m talking to you Mormon Church people from Utah with big pockets.)   That’s a whole lotta hate going on in your little brain.  Luckily the crowd that Voted No on Prop  8 are quite plucky and I have no doubt they will overcome your snarky little proposition.  Whatever happened to Jesus loves everyone?  Anyone???????
