Can you believe it? An employee was trampled to DEATH at WalMart on Black Friday. Trampled by overeager shoppers. At WalMart. You heard me. I mean you just have to have those cashmere mini Christmas trees at 29% off, right? That employee, most likely was only worth, maybe 60% on a good day. Gsus. I mean seriously, trample for a good reason folks, Trample because you see Bruce Springsteen 8 feet in front of you at Safeway, Trample to save a child from running into traffic, you TRAMPLE to save your life for christ sake. NOT to get into WALMART for some cheap-ass electronic device that didn’t come near the sale price in manufacturing or shipping costs. *sigh*
Last year Soren and I had a great Christmas because we did not buy each other a gift and the only gifts we bestowed on anyone were new winter jackets for his 3 nephews and 1 niece over in Denmark. Oh and I bought his brother-in-law, Niels, one of those musical ties, because his broke and the grandkids love those ties on Christmas Eve. And honestly, it was possibly the nicest Christmas I have ever had. Everything was about family, fantastic food, lovely wine and lighting real candles on the Christmas Tree. We sang and danced around that Christmas Tree, yes we did. Even Soren. It was unbelievably adorable.
This year will be a toned down year as well; I feel myself moving in that direction for a bunch of reasons, but mostly because everyone I know has everything they need. That is of course, (close your eyes if you don’t want the surprise spoiled some of you) everything except home-made Kahlua and Christmas Tea Cookies. Those will be my gifts. Certainly not worth stampeding over but at least I’ll be alive to enjoy the festivities with my friends and family and maybe get a little tree dancing in as well.
For those friends/family from afar, I bestow upon you Betty’s Home-made Kahlua Recipe, newly named:
