In one sense we have made it. We returned to the States on May 30 with relatively no problems--mainly just the stress of traveling such a long distance with little sleep and lots of anticipation. The boys followed tradition and incessantly asked how much longer the trip would take. In fact, while waiting at the airport in Nairobi, Caleb asked “What time is it now?” ... literally EVERY MINUTE! I guess that beats the incessant “Are we there, yet?” Regardless, my response of “just enjoy the trip” was not enough to displace the excitement and anticipation.
Now that we have been back in the States for a little over a week, we still face the reality that we are NOT there yet. We are not even sure where “there” is. We are still very much looking forward to seeing more friends and family in the next weeks. In addition, we are still anxious to see where God will plant us. I realized today that I have in essence been doing to God the same thing impatient people do to the ones driving--incessantly asking “When, God, when?” instead of just enjoying the trip.
So...here we are...where God wants us for now...waiting...resting...trusting...at least we’re trying.
