Jimmy’s African Queen

Diana did it...she actually did it!  After 7 hours of sitting, two numb cheeks, and four boxes of fake hair, Diana is now sporting her new “do.”  Our new friend, Mary, came to our house and spent all day braiding Diana’s hair!  It almost didn’t happen, though.  I told Mary that Diana would meet her at the Brackenhurst gate at 9:00 AM.  Well, 9:00 came and went, but it’s Africa, right?!  When 10:25 rolled around, and Diana came back to the house without Mary, we were a little concerned.  I found my phone in the car and saw there was a dozen missed calls.  “Oh no!” we thought something bad must have happened.  We called Mary and discovered she had been waiting at the Brackenhurst “gate” since 9:00 AM!  How could this be?  Diana had spent all that time down there.  I found her sitting beside the main road, at the end of the drive to Brackenhurst, leaning against the sign for Brackenhurst.  Apparently gate and sign are synonymous!

Anyway, we apologized several times and, fortunately, Mary did not take out revenge on Diana’s hair.  Instead, she braided for over five hours.  The boys are learning that you don’t tell a woman in the midst of having her hair done a new way that she looks funny.  I, on the other hand, have learned that lesson many times and must say the braids look good!  So look out Zambia!  My African Queen is on her way!
