What Good Is Zucchini w/o Zucchini

Just look at that garden!  The cucumbers (on the left) are really producing and we have pickles in the fridge.  Do you see those beautiful, HUGE zucchini plants on the right?  What a wonderful sight to see upon our return from Kenya!  I could just taste the fried zucchini like Mama used to make!  I envisioned loaves of zucchini bread and secret ingredients for stir fry.  So you can imagine how excited I was when I went out to the garden and saw the dozens of blooms on the plants.

But, we won’t be having any of those delicious things.  NO!  That’s because the zucchini plants that are all in bloom have no fruit!  They’re calling out, “Hey look at us...we’re big luscious zucchini plants and we have fruit...just look at our blooms!”  But it’s all a facade.  Sounds familiar, huh?!  What a great reminder of the fig tree Jesus cursed because it had leaves, but no fruit.  What an even greater reminder of our calling, our purpose:  to bear much fruit!
