The Big Day

Yesterday Alice and I woke up very early in the morning to go to Itaewon in order to set up for the show. We rented a cab (35,000 won) to drive us there, as our friends with vehicles all had prior engagements. There was virtually no traffic, so we got there a good half an hour earlier than the trip normally takes. The weather was quite cool for this time of year, and the wind was blowing pretty hard as well. We thought we may just have to wait a half an hour until Darrell showed up, but no one got there for an hour and a half! Fortunately for us the restaurant’s bathroom was unlocked and had a propane heater in it, which we took full advantage of while we waited.
After setting up Alice went back home to rest (she wasn’t used to sleeping only six hours) and I stayed in Itaewon to meet Mike, who had come all the way up from Gyungju to see the show today. I picked up my suit, bought a new pair of shoes and a belt, and Mike had a sports jacket made. He is on his way into the city now to pick it up. In the meantime I should try and get some housework done; my apartment has been in a state of disarray these past few days as I’ve been preparing paintings for transport, getting my portfolio together, and attending to other things. I am glad this is all happening, but I will be glad when tonight is over as well.
